Short Note on Haiku Syntax and Form
Up until the S1E08 Haiku, I'd been playing fast and loose with the 5-7-5 format - splitting sentences and what not.
No mo'.
Made the conscious decision that from now on, discipline will be self-imposed to ensure that each line will be a discrete and complete thought unto itself.
A little harder to compose, but I like the results once they are done....

S1E05-08 Notes
Well, I've watched all the episodes, but did not take good notes - so I'm just going to stress that I have absolutely no doubt that on-island John Locke is being seriously manipulated by.... well, by something or someone or other.
We know that, even before the 815 flight, Abedon put the 'Walkabout' idea in his head, and Jacob appears to have raised him from the dead - what else did that touch do?
He is totally fucking with Sayid's effort to establish radio communication - AND (I can never say this too often) he's lying about his encounter with Smokey (if it in fact was Smokey). He's totally manipulating Charlie - although during 'The Moth' he appears to be in character-building mode.
Can't wait to see how this shapes up during the rest of the season and into the ensuing seasons - quite the puzzle they've given us here.
Also - and I'm surprised I didn't hear anyone point this out yet - a point of symmetry between James 'Saywer' Ford and Ben Linus was in evidence at the end of 'Confidence Man' when James calls off the con when he see the little boy. Reminiscent of Ben's hesitation when attempting to assassinate Penny aboard Our Mutual Friend, as well as stealing Alex rather than killing her as Charles would have had him do.
Anyway, that's it on the notes - but I do have episode-specific Haikus.

S1E04 Walkabout Notes
== Totally Random/Amusing ==
Hurley: "Jethro here's been hoarding all the peanuts"
Who's nicknaming whom?
Locke the mighty hunter emerges...
"Colonel Locke"
Haw!
Randy really is a dick, ain't he?
Sun pretending she doesn't understand Michael.
Micheal using really, really bad gesturing to ask Sun to babysit.
Ethan is a log carrying guy!!!
Randy: "That's what you think you've got, old man? Destiny?"
What a total fucking dick. Need to send some flaming arrows his way, pronto.
== In Retrospect Possibly Significant ==
Sayid: "There must be a power source on the island, a significant one."
== In Retrospect Holy Shit ==
Debate on how to dispose of the bodies - Jack says whatever we bury won't stay buried long, gotta burn them..
Charlie: "Last I heard, we're positively made of time."
Locke encounters Smokey for the first time, then lies about it.
First Christian appearances!!!
'Good boy. Come on. Come here. I need you to go find my son... He has work to do. '
Burning the bodies...

S1E03 Tabula Rasa Notes
== Totally Random/Amusing ==
First Patsy Cline song!!!
== Amusing in Retrospect but Probably not Significant ==
The Marshall: "She's dangerous!"
Dude, you don't know the half of it.
Sayid: 'hope is a very dangerous thing to lose'
Sawyer and Kate in the cages?
Kate: "So we lie?"
Yup, get used to it, honey...
Kate: 'He wake up?
Jack: 'No, just for a few seconds during the surgery.
Kate: 'He say anything?
Jack: 'No.
Michael in the hatch asking about the dying Libby...
== In Retrospect Possibly Significant ==
The Marshall to Kate: 'You don't look free to me'
Need some killing done? Sawyer's your go-to guy.
Well, maybe not...
Unless he thinks the guy is the real Sawyer.
But Sawyer is truly horrified - our first peek at the chinks in his armor...
== In Retrospect Holy Shit ==
Such an ominous fade out on Locke after his good turn for Micheal!

S1E02 Pilot Notes
== Totally Random/Amusing ==
"I'm a complex guy, sweetheart!"
(Hello, Heath)
First time we hear Giacchino's "trek" theme.
Charlie - "The rescue party. It has to be. It's French! The French are coming! I've never been so happy to hear the French! "
Obviously he hasn't been listening to Bill O'Reilly.
The polar bear!!!
Kate in a thong and brassiere for the first (and happily, not the last) time. Yowsuh!
== Amusing in Retrospect but Probably not Significant ==
Claire thinks the baby is a 'he'
Locke to Walt: "You're having a bad month."
== In Retrospect Possibly Significant ==
Claire hasn't felt the baby kick since the crash. After she accepts Jin's sushi offering, that little bastard starts kicking up a storm!
"Walt, do you want to know a secret?"
== In Retrospect Holy Shit ==
"Two players. Two sides. One is light … one is dark."

S1E01 Pilot Notes
== Totally Random/Amusing ==
re: Smokey's noises: "Something really familiar about that sound it made." "Oh yeah? Where you from?" "The Bronx."
John has more hair in the pilot - So used to seeing him completely bald....
Cockpit wiring resembles angel hair pasta...
== Amusing/Interesting in Retrospect but Probably not Significant ==
Jack blacked out during Oceanic crash - Kate saw it all.
Jack to Kate: "You're not running now"
Hurley needs a spell check - or at least Walt (b-o-d-y-s)
Jack, Kate and Charlie's 1st island trek - Vincent watching from the sidelines.
Kate to Charlie re: Jack "We have to go back for him".
== In Retrospect Possibly Significant ==
Christian's (Jack's) white sneaker hanging in the bamboo
Smokey really did not like Eric Weiss/Matt Parker. Wonder what he would have done if it had turned out to be Frank (the candidate/Lawnmowerman) Lapidus?
== In Retrospect Holy Shit ==
Nothing this time around

First Post - Intro / General Stuff...
The 5th Season of ABC TV's Series Lost finished up a couple of weeks ago and fans of the show are looking at a long hiatus until Season 6 starts in early 2010.
In light if the information revealed during the course of Season 5, many of us are endeavoring to re-watch Seasons 1 - 5, hoping to glean new insights based on many of these revelations - especially the reveals from the Season 5 Finale "The Incident Parts 1 & 2".
A group of Lost Podcasters and Bloggers are undertaking this re-watch starting this week, and I plan on following them in order to leverage the brain trust that they represent. These are some of the smartest kids in the class, and whatever I might miss during my own re-watch - these folks will pick up the slack for me.
Here's a one-stop shopping link for the re-watch:
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Lostpedia:Rewatch
Nancy Drew from Lostaholics will be hosting a podcast each week at Talkshoe - she is awsome.
Based on what these folks have produced in the past, I expect this to be very rewarding. I'm going to try to make my own independent post here. Nothing fancy, just whatever hits me during each episode as I take a few notes.
Oh, yeah - I'm planning to write a Haiku for each episode.
Fair warning - I'm probably gonna curse. I probably will not get gratuitous or over the top, but sometimes profanity can be eloquent and economical. So there.
